Tests of the light multi-purpose helicopter Ka-226T, which confirmed the possibility of machine operation under extremely high temperatures, were conducted in Iran in August-September 2017.
The tests were conducted within the framework of a memorandum signed by “Russian Helicopters” JSC (part of the Russian state corporation Rostec) at the international exhibition HeliRussia in May 2017. Their goal was to confirm the possibility of operating the helicopter at ambient temperature of up to +50 degrees Celsius.
Light multi-purpose helicopter Ka-226T with a coaxial main rotor has the maximum take-off weight of 3.6 tons and is capable of carrying up to 1 ton of payload. The main distinguishing feature of the helicopter is the modularity of its design - it is easy to install a transport cab on the Ka-226T, the design of which allows transportation of up to 6 people, or modules equipped with special equipment. Improved flight performance of the Ka-226T, environmental friendliness, efficiency, modern avionics and additional solutions in the field of flight safety make this helicopter one of the best in its class.
"A number of countries in the Middle East region, including Iran, are interested in light multi-purpose helicopters to solve fire, patrol, evacuation and medical problems." The tests of Ka-226T proved that this machine is capable of operating under critical temperature conditions, which is certainly important for potential operators. "I hope that a number of agreements for the supply of these helicopters will be signed soon," said Andrei Boginsky, General Director of the holding company "Russian Helicopters".
Ka-226T helicopter boasts a modular design and can be delivered in a variety of modifications.
- The passenger model can comfortably set up to seven people.
- The transport model can carry one tonne within the fuselage or on an external sling and cargo platform can be installed to carry oversize goods.
- Ka-226T has two kinds of medical uses – medevac and intensive care. Medevac helicopters are equipped with stretchers to carry the injured, oxygen cylinders, and the requisite medical equipment. There are fold-away seats for medical staff. When used to provide intensive-care treatment, the Ka-226T can accommodate one patient and two medical staff.
- As a police vehicle, the Ka-226T can transport up to six people and is excellently suited to law enforcement activities such as: ensuring law and order, patrolling areas, identifying and tracking criminals, and managing the traffic police.
- The search-and-rescue version of the Ka-226 can operate in difficult climates and in a range of different environments, including mountainous areas. High hover precision makes it possible to get injured people on board safely.
